Background
Joint Stock Company Vilnius mayonnaise factory is the leader in mayonnaise production in Lithuania, producing mayonnaise Vilnius of different tastes. Successful operations of the company are determined by long-term experience and tradition, which roots go back to 1913, overtaken from its predecessor.
In 1981, due to unique technology, the company produced the first Lithuanian mayonnaise, classic taste 67% fat Provansal that was quickly appreciated and taken to the liking by the consumers. Like many producers of our country at that time, the company was unable to offer a higher variety of product packaging: there were only jars of 250 g with pressed lids and labels of pale colours.
Seeking to improve its production technology and in consideration of consumer needs, in 1993 the company produced mayonnaise Vilnius with lower fat content. Later it started producing series of mayonnaises with mushrooms, dill, horseradish and other additives. In order to expand its assortment, the company started searching for new solutions to improve sales appeal of the goods. Considering the changing needs of the buyers, products have been started to package into 250 g, 500 g and 900 g jars with convenient screwed lids. Labels of the old design have been replaced by multi-coloured adhesive labels.
In 1995, the company has started packaging the products into 5 kg buckets. This novelty attracted even more consumers, as larger packaging is very suitable not only to individual buyers, but to large public catering companies as well. Upon appearance of mayonnaises of other producers in the market, mayonnaise Vilnius with its reliable quality and taste was able to stand it leading grounds.
In 1997, mayonnaise Vilnius was awarded a gold medal in trade show Choose the Lithuanian product and a diploma The most popular canned product.
In 1999, the company introduced low-calorie mayonnaise Vilnius, that has been recognized as product of the year and granted the highest award.
In 2002, upon modernization of the company, consumers’ choice has been even more widened by mayonnaise sauces for salads, meat dishes and Piquant, awarded by the medal. Part of the glass jars has been replaced by modern and safe PET jars.
In 2004, upon implementation of new HACCP quality management system, quality of products made by Vilnius mayonnaise factory became even more assured and stable.
Experience of more than twenty years and scrupulously nurtured traditions created mayonnaise of true Lithuanian taste, appreciated and liked by several generations, that delights consumers not only during the greatest festivals of Christmas and Easter, but enriches the everyday table as well.
